All-on-4 Dental Implants

Even if you have missing teeth, you don't have to suffer through everyday activities like smiling, talking, and chewing. Drs. Will Thornton and Nathan Van der Linden can help you see if you're a candidate for the All-on-4® technique.

This solution allows more patients to qualify for implant-supported dentures. Explore your options at our Washington, DC, office.

Understanding the All-on-4 Technique

The All-on-4 technique uses all the standard components of an implant-supported denture; it's simply a more efficient method that requires just four implants. As a result, more of our Washington, DC, dental patients can qualify for implant dentures, often without preparatory bone grafting.

Our dentists, Will Thornton and Nathan Van der Linden, are known for creating beautiful, yet natural-looking restorations. When we work together with local oral surgeons for your implant placement surgery, we can completely transform your smile.

Why Is the All-on-4 Method Easier to Qualify for?

It Needs Fewer Implants

With the All-on-4 technique, a dentist can place fewer implants into your jawbone and still firmly secure a denture in place. You may need as little as four implants per arch.

It Uses Strategic Placement

When an oral surgeon or periodontist secures your dental implants in your jawbone, they will place them in dense areas and at strategic angles to make the most of the bone tissue that you have available.

It Requires Less Bone Tissue

Because of this placement strategy, All-on-4 patients will need less bone tissue to qualify for treatment. That means they can avoid time-consuming and costly bone grafting or sinus lifts.

Put Your Oral Health First With Dental Implants

Losing your teeth is just the beginning. With lost teeth comes losing the stimulation your tooth roots provide, which causes your bone tissue to atrophy. Over time, you may notice a sunken, aged facial appearance. This bone loss also impacts your overall oral wellness.

Thankfully, using dental implants, you can prevent this bone loss and the problems it causes. Let our dentists show you a path to a beautiful and healthy smile using the All-on-4 technique.

I've been with Dr. Thornton's practice for almost 2 decades and have had many, many reasons to count my blessings for landing here. Just in the last two years, I've required extensive reparative work and can't imagine another dentist being more caring, thorough, or committed. The work has been challenging and required tenacity, great precision, and, frankly, talent--which isn't often associated with the field. Yet in this office, I've been the recipient of nearly miraculous rescues from unpleasant scenarios.

Is All-on-4 Treatment Covered By Insurance?

Insurance providers can be selective about what kinds of costs are considered medically necessary. As our Washington, DC, dentists will explain, the extent of coverage depends on each component of your new smile.

Implants

Despite their important health benefits, dental insurance does not cover the cost of dental implants. However, implants are well worth the cost, because they prevent bone recession and improve the stability of your new dentures. Not to mention, they can dramatically improve your quality of life for the rest of your life.

Preparatory Care

Even though your dental insurance won't contribute to the cost of your implants, it may help cover any preparatory care you need. If you require tooth extraction or gum disease treatment before an oral surgeon can place your implants, you may qualify for coverage.

Dentures

Even though dental implants aren't eligible for insurance coverage, dentures are. That means your provider will likely still assist with a portion of your relevant treatment costs. Our dentistry practice takes most insurance plans. Our knowledgeable front desk team can even confirm if we accept yours ahead of time.

We Accept Financing to Make All-on-4 Treatment More Accessible

Implant-supported dentures are a worthwhile investment in your long-term oral function, wellness, and confidence. Our team makes it a little easier to find the healthy new smile you desire by accepting CareCredit® financing. This trusted lender can offer low-interest or even no-interest plans, depending on your qualification status. You can even check your eligibility without impacting your credit score.

Our Washington, DC, patients can even combine financing with their insurance benefits. If you do not want to apply for outside financing, you can supplement your dental insurance using most major credit cards or cash.

Our Team Works Hard to Maximize Your Dental Benefits

“So thankful for Dr. Thornton’s office! Dental Consultation

During a consultation at our Washington dental office, we'll ask you about your health, medications, and concerns. If you're a good All-on-4 candidate, we'll work with you to create the right treatment plan for your needs. Even if you're not, we also offer traditional full-arch dentures.

Treatment Planning

We use state-of-the-art technology like digital X-rays and our iTero scanner to gather images of your smile. They allow us to plot the best course forward and create your new custom denture. If you need supplementary care, we offer tooth extraction to prepare you for implant dentures.

Implant Placement

Our Washington dentists will coordinate the surgical stage of your treatment with an established oral surgeon or periodontist. They will ensure you're entirely comfortable before the procedure. Then, they will place your dental implants in your jaw.

Abutment Placement

This surgical procedure can be performed on the same day as your implant placement, or several months later. It involves connecting your abutments to your dental implants.

Temporary Denture

Depending on your case, you may also be eligible for temporary denture placement on the same day as your dental implant procedure.

Osseointegration

Over the next three to six months, your dental implants will fuse with your jawbone. This process is called osseointegration, and it's one of the reasons why implant dentures look subtle and work naturally.

Final Restoration

Once you've healed, you'll come back to our office so we can attach your final set of dentures. Our dentists will also ask for your thoughts on the bite and fit so that we can make sure you're truly happy with your new smile.

See What Happens During the Implant Placement Procedure

Curious about how everything ties together when our detail-oriented team coordinates with established oral surgeons? They will place implants in your jawbone. Meanwhile, we will plan and eventually place a lifelike denture designed specifically for you.
